The Automatic Backwash system provides a simple and permanent solution to the problem of capillary plugging in plate and frame heat exchangers. Such plugging frequently requires the heat exchanger to be disassembled and each plate to be scrubbed clean of adhered or impinged foulants. By backflushing the heat exchanger, capillary plugging is all but eliminated because no compounding of foulants is allowed to occur.
The typical WSA Automatic Backwash System has two main components.

- One control panel
